Tennessee’s Immunization Landscape:
Key Facts for the Volunteer State
Which Vaccines Do I Need and When?
Your family physician or pediatrician will be your most important resource. Here are some resources that we know Tennesseans can trust when looking for information about which vaccines you may need.
Vaccination Rates
Tennessee has long been a national example of strong community values and effective public‑health practices. More than 90% of Tennessee parents immunize their children, reflecting deep trust in pediatricians and in vaccines as proven, life‑saving tools.
However, recent data show early signs of decline. In the 2023–2024 school year, Tennessee’s kindergarten MMR vaccination rate fell below the 95% community‑immunity threshold for the first time since 2008, increasing the risk of preventable disease outbreaks.
